Abhishek A Rastogi is a prominent and highly acclaimed Indian lawyer and jurist practicing before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and Tribunals across India. He has a vast and diverse experience having served as an equity Partner with Khaitan & Co. He had an overall experience of twenty-two years with E&Y, PwC and Khaitan.
Before he started his legal chambers in 2022. He is a commerce graduate from Sri Ram College of Commerce and a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has carved a niche in the legal fraternity having established himself as a distinguished constitutional expert for tax and fiscal issues. Having a vast practical experience, he regularly makes recommendations to governments in policy and fiscal matters.
Mr. Rastogi has zealously argued plethora of landmark writ petitions for diverse sectors to secure effective relief for clients. Recently, he has argued on industry issues such as constitutionality of pre-import condition, ocean freight, continuation of export benefits, Budgetary Support and other incentive schemes, intermediaries, arrest proceedings, denial of transitional credit, credit issues of surcharges and cesses, restrictions on rebate benefits, Amnesty Scheme, exemptions for oxygen equipment, tax cascading issues, License fees paid to Government, decriminalisation of statutes and anti-profiteering provisions. Basis his initiatives, the Government brought out various corrective amendments.
Mr. Rastogi has received several accolades for his literary and judicial contributions to the tax, constitutional and fiscal fraternity. For his outstanding achievements, he has received various prestigious awards including Economic Times 40 under Forty, World tax award (highly regarded for tax controversies), Asia Legal Development (top 50 Indian lawyers) for 2 consecutive years, Legal Era 40 under 40 and the International Tax Review Award.
Being is a prolific orator, he regularly features in prime business news channels such as CNBC, ET Now, and Zee Business. Over a last couple of years, he has featured more than 300 times in prominent business dailies to share his views. He has authored over a dozen of commentaries on GST, Central Excise, Service Tax and Foreign Trade Policy. His books were reviewed by late Hon’ble Finance Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley, and the recent book “India@75, GST@5” by Hon’ble Union Commerce Minister, Mr. Piyush Goyal
